In this role, you'll:
Undertake a range of vehicle and safety equipment testing activities that support both commercial testing services and NSW Government objectives to reduce road fatalities and serious injuries. You will work as part of a multi‑disciplinary technical team delivering high‑quality, customer‑focused testing and research outcomes.
Primary responsibilities include operating, maintaining and calibrating specialised test equipment; conducting vehicle and safety equipment testing programs; producing accurate test documentation, data acquisition, analysis and reporting in line with National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accreditation requirements; and supporting WHS management system requirements including hazard identification, risk assessment, reporting and continuous improvement. You will also contribute to the development of new testing capabilities by assisting in the design and manufacture of laboratory test fixtures and equipment, and maintaining awareness of emerging vehicle and road user safety technologies.
A fixed‑term full‑time opportunity is available for a Project Officer Mechanical supporting vehicle and safety equipment research and assessment programs within Transport for NSW.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to apply sound technical knowledge and practical experience in a highly specialised testing environment. You bring strong attention to detail and understand the importance of accuracy when undertaking destructive testing where there is no second chance.
You are comfortable working collaboratively within a multi‑disciplinary team, can manage competing priorities to meet demanding deadlines without compromising quality, and are committed to embedding safe work practices in everything you do.
You are also able to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and security requirements.
This role is working onsite at the Crashlab site in Huntingwood.
